Product Description
The Gunggari are an Aboriginal language and land owning group in S.W. Queensland. “A Place Called Home” chronicles this Indigenous group’s struggle not only for Native Title and all that entails, but also for respect and recognition.
The Gunggari story is one of resilience and perseverance. Through colonisation, dispossession, exclusion and exploitation they retained identity, commitment to culture and land as well as to one another.
The Gunggari struggle began in the 1840s when S.W. Queensland was colonised. It was partially successful in 2011 and 2012 when they were granted Native Title to part of their ancestral land. The struggle continues, supported by Gunggari resilience and cultural vitality.
